Who we support

We work with partners in the Labour and Trade Union movement, as well as NGOs, to further the aims we hold in common. Our relationships with these partners vary from broad agreement across a wide range of policies to campaigning together on a single issue.

Unite the Union - Supported our freshers drive by sponsoring our posters and postcards, and have been consistent friends and supporters of Labour Students. We continue to work closely with Unite throughout the year, and together we are encouraging more working students to join a trade union. Look out for a full series of regional events, held jointly by Labour Students and Unite.

Terrence Higgins Trust - Supported our "Sex, Lives & Politics" campaign, which successfully called on the Treasury to reduce VAT on condoms to the minimum amount allowed under EU law.

Child Poverty Action Group - We supported the CPAG "Make Child Poverty History" campaign, and called on the Government to equalise child benefit, so that parents are given the same amount for second and subsequent children as for the first. We also lobbied the Government to give pregnant women benefit during their pregnancy, rather than waiting until the baby is born. The Government have announced that women will now receive child benefit from the 29th week of their pregnancy.

LGBT Labour - Our LGBT campaign passed policy affiliating Labour Students to LGBT Labour.

Co-operative Party - Our Women's campaign passed policy affiliating that campaign to the Co-operative Party.
