Labour Students works as an organised group of elected student officers within the National Union of Students, and also has a strong network of members who are sabbatical officers in their Students' Unions.
We democratically select our candidates for NUS positions at Labour Students National Council. Our own Liberation campaigns — Black Minority Ethnic (BME); Disabled Students; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT); and Women's — also select candidates to run for positions within NUS.
We don't run in NUS just for fun, nor to be Government cheerleaders. Labour Students organise in student politics because we believe that the student movement must be guided by Labour values. Only with those values can we secure the fairest deal for everybody in education. It is only Labour Students candidates who will stand up and tell people that they are proud to be part of a movement that is driven by principles of solidarity, tolerance and respect.
Currently, there are seven members of the NUS NEC who are Labour Students and we have two members on the NUS Wales Executive Committee.
