From 22nd of March the Ken Livingstone for London Mayor campaign has a new bus, the Fare Deal Express, for the entire campaign period. The bus will be leaving every day from a central London location and spending the whole day on the campaign trail. Labour Students are going to be filling this bus everyday, and we'd like to ask you to join us on board the bus. We will provide central London accommodation absolutely free for the length of your stay in London on the bus. MANCHESTER LABOUR STUDENTS WIN THE LIVING WAGE FOR STAFF AT MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY
Manchester Labour Students met with the University of Manchester's Vice Chancellor Nancy Rothwell and UofM's director of HR Karen Heaton yesterday morning and secured a committment from them to pay the Living Wage. Manchester Labour Students have been campaigning hard for the Living Wage, out on campus in all weathers collecting signatures and support. NEW WELSH LABOUR STUDENTS COMMITTEE ELECTED
Last weekend over 50 Welsh Labour Students took part in a Welsh Labour Students Conference. The conference was a great success, and lots of ideas were generated for Welsh Labour Students moving forward. Labour Students National Chair, Olivia Bailey, said: "It is great to get Welsh Labour Students back in to action. CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED FOR NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2012
We're really pleased to be able to announce today all declared candidates for the upcoming elections at National Conference 2012. Our second democratic event of the year will see elections take place for lots of positions: our full-time officers, our Vice Chairs, our International Officer and our Regional Coordinators. VISIT LONDON THIS SPRING AND JOIN LABOUR STUDENTS CAMPAIGNING FOR KEN
Labour Students have played an active role in Ken Livingstone's mayoral campaign this year and will be stepping things up a gear over the coming months into the short campaign. We've dressed up as chickens and as Santa, donned Boris masks, briefed activists on the details of the campaign and joined hundreds of volunteers leafleting London on January 3rd as fares rose. Labour Students from up and down the country travelled to London to help launch Ken's Fare Deal campaign and we hope to see volunteers from all over the UK as the campaign continues. KENT LABOUR STUDENTS WIN A LIVING WAGE FOR ALL KENT UNION CLEANERS
Kent Labour Students have secured a Living Wage for cleaning staff in their student union this week. From August 1st Kent Union will pay all cleaning staff a Living Wage. This is excellent news for the campaign at Kent which has been running since early this academic year. The club have run a high profile campaign with coverage in local media, a visit from the Rt Hon David Miliband MP and several successful action days collecting a petition in support of the campaign. CONGRATULATIONS TO SEEMA MALHOTRA - LABOUR'S NEWEST MP
Labour Students have been working hard on the #labourdoorstep in Feltham and Heston the last few weeks and are very pleased that the campaign was successful and Seema Malhotra is now MP for Feltham and Heston. We had a fantastic campaign weekend on the 3rd & 4th December with around 50 volunteers from all over the country, took over 100 students over to campaign during our National Council the following weekend and then spent the final week of the campaign in the constituency with around 25 volunteers each day and over 40 on polling day for the final push. LABOUR STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE UK DESCEND ON FELTHAM AND HESTON
This weekend over 50 Labour Students from across the country arrived in Feltham and Heston to campaign for Seema Malhotra in the upcoming by-election. Our members travelled from all over: Hull, Kent, Aberystwyth, Edinburgh, Manchester, Portsmouth, Reading, Leicester, Oxford, Leeds, Birmingham and of course London. Over the weekend over 10,000 leaflets were delivered and around 2,500 voters were contacted. They were rewarded with curry and karaoke on the Saturday evening with London Young Labour and many then stayed over in Feltham and Heston to get out on the #labourdoorstep on Sunday morning. LABOUR STUDENTS SUPPORT WORKERS ACROSS THE UK
Members of Labour Students from across the UK supported workers fighting for a fair deal this Wednesday. We were proud to stand alongside our trade union comrades - just like workers stood by students when we were fighting higher fees. Labour Students across the country took part in local action: from Abertay marching in Dundee to Swansea and Cambridge joining their local City Centre protest to our London members marching in London. LABOUR STUDENTS UNITE FOR A #LIVINGWAGE AT POLITICAL WEEKEND 2011
Over a hundred Labour Students spent the 12/13 November at Stoke Rochford Hall in Grantham for Labour Students Political Weekend 2011. The weekend included workshops, policy discussions and keynote addresses from key figures in the Labour Party including Rachel Reeves MP, Stephen Twigg MP and Dan Jarvis MP. The weekend also focussed on Labour Students' Living Wage campaign. As well as a training session led by Movement for Change, and a discussion about the importance of working with trade unions, led by UNISON, Labour Students also took part in a twitter 'flashmob'. At 3pm on Saturday, delegates from political weekend and Labour Students from across the UK joined together on twitter to tweet at famous alumni and Vice Chancellors from their institutions to ask them to support the living wage...

LABOUR STUDENTS WELCOME TUITION FEE CALL
Labour Students have today welcomed Ed Miliband's focus on HE funding at the start of Labour Party Annual Conference. Speaking from Liverpool, Labour Students national chair Olivia Bailey said: "We welcome Ed Miliband's call to reduce University fees to £6,000. This move would prevent some of the damage caused by a market in variable fees and would reduce the burden of graduate debt. This policy is a clear sign that Ed is on the side of students. LAUNCH OF FRESHERS CAMPAIGN 2011
We're pleased to announce the launch of the 2011 Freshers Campaign. We are aiming for record recruitment this year, and have been excited to hear of different Labour Clubs' plans for their freshers period. Materials for freshers fairs have now been dispatched and will be with Labour Club Chairs soon. The packs include our Student Matters magazine, postcards about each Liberation Campaign, further postcards with general information about Labour Students (including specific materials for Wales and Scotland) as well as posters for you to use to promote your club and your Living Wage campaigns. WINNING LIBERATION
On Saturday 27 August dozens of Labour Students gathered in London for Labour Students' first ever national Winning Liberation event. The day was aimed at people who wanted to find out more about the four liberation campaigns (Women's Campaign, LGBT campaign, BAME campaign and Disabled Students' Campaign) and was also aimed at those involved in each campaign so that they could elect their officer on national committee and pass policy for the year ahead. The day was the first time that the Liberation campaigns in Labour Students have had the ability to pass policy. Policy passed ranged from the Women's Campaign prioritising a campaign to stop cuts to women's services to the LGBT campaign passing policy to support gay marriage.
