Labour Students Annual Conference takes place in Manchester on Saturday February 28 to Sunday March 1. This is a great chance for you to discuss policy, to elect next year’s National Committee, meet new people and hear from leading figures from the Labour movement. Of course you will also get to spend your Saturday night at another fantastic Labour Students’ social event.
The cost of the event is £35 for those requiring accommodation, and £10 for those who don’t. Club Chairs have been sent all the relevant information regarding motions, elections and registering delegates. If you are interested in attending then you should contact your Club Chair but please feel free to get in touch with me directly on 0207 7831371 if you have any questions or require any further information.
Secondly at Labour Students Conference 2008, we resolved to conduct a wide-ranging, review during which all members would be consulted; and for our National Committee to combine similar ideas into a concise set of constitutional amendments for the organisation to debate and agree.
It is important that this review receives submissions from as many quarters as possible and on as many subjects as possible and as a result submissions will be accepted from Labour Clubs or from individual members.
This review covers any aspect of Labour Students, and it is completely up to you what suggestions are sent in. Have you ever wanted to change the way in which our National Committee is structured or perhaps the type of events we hold? Or maybe you think the way we debate policy could be improved? If so now is your chance to make your suggestions and improve Labour Students. We need your help to ensure Labour Students reflects the needs of you, its membership.
Submissions should be sent by email to matt_strong@new.labour.org.uk by 5pm on Friday, February 6 and we shall ensure you receive any proposals in good time before annual conference. If you have any queries about this process please do not hesitate to contact me.
