Labour has a proud record in government on the rights of young people at work. The Labour government was the first government to bring in a national minimum wage; has increased protection against unfair dismissal; and has increased the rights of part-time workers, many of whom are young people. 

Join Birmingham University Labour Students and local Labour MP Gisella Stuart in welcoming the Labour Government’s commitment to lower the adult rate threshold to 21, and call on Prime Minister Gordon Brown to extend this commitment to ensure that all over-18s benefit equally from Labour’s minimum wage and to make his next step in delivering better rights for workers an equal minimum wage.
