“Zimbabwe: New Era, New Challenges” looked at the role of the youth and student movement in Zimbabwe during the transition, as well as examining wider political questions regarding the power share. ZINASU have been heavily involved in the struggle for democratic rights in Zimbabwe and this event allowed the audience to hear first hand accounts of the situation, as well as a chance to share opinions on the power sharing deal in between Morgan Tsvangirai and Robert Mugabe.
Stephanie Peacock, NEC Youth Rep chaired the event which heard from Clever Bere, ZINASU President and Brilliant Dube, ZINASU Vice President. The panel also included Andrew Gwynne MP and Tom Dykes from ACTSA.
At this time of transition and hope the panel tackled a range of questions from the floor about the recent events in Zimbabwe. While there are no easy solutions the panel agreed that this window of opportunity must be seized, and that the latest developments presented a window of hope that must not be ignored.
